THE 4TH NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON PSYCHIATRY: “MENTAL HEALTH OF THE ELDERLY”

On March 16, 2024, the 4th National Conference on Psychiatry, themed “Mental Health of the Elderly,” was successfully held. The event was organized by the Institute of Mental Health in collaboration with the Vietnam Psychiatric Association and National Mental Hospital II. With the participation of nearly 600 delegates from hospitals and specialized medical facilities across the country and internationally, the conference provided an opportunity for experts to update their knowledge on advanced diagnostic and treatment techniques while also paving the way for in-depth research aimed at improving the effectiveness of mental health care for the community.

The conference featured a presentation on the topic “The Prevalence of Erectile Dysfunction in Patients with Recurrent Depression Aged 18–60 Years Receiving Outpatient Treatment at the Institute of Mental Health, Bach Mai Hospital” by Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Mai – Institute of Mental Health, Bach Mai Hospital. The presentation also highlighted the key features of the active ingredient Avanafil—a selective PDE5 inhibitor that acts specifically on penile erectile tissue—which is indicated for the treatment of erectile dysfunction in adult men. Avanafil takes effect the fastest and has the fewest side effects compared to other PDE5 inhibitors.
